My Friends My Choice By Whyte Habeeb Ibidapo

A great city is a battlefield. You need to be a fighter to live in it, not exist, and mark you, live. Anybody can exist, dragging his soul around behind him like a worn out coat; but living is different. If I were you I would rather ask God to give me a barren wife than a barren mind or a barren friend. I am happy that am laying my pen on paper again.
I have always pray to God that I want to be a noble minded writer that is set to change the course of my generation with the power of the pen. My pen is my voice. It has been rightly said that you don’t judge a man not until you have worked a mile in his moccasin. It should be noted that every man is entitled to what we call choice. Choice as to free will and not of compulsion. Individuals have been entangled with the problem of choosing a friend or better still they cannot identify who truly their friends are. The inability to open up to hope is what blocks trust and blocked trust is the reason for blighted dreams. We must be able to bring hope and understanding where there are despair, desperation and hostility. We must be able to provide tranquility and sense of belonging where there are exclusion and hopelessness. We must be able to ensure mutual respect of one another and reaffirm our common humanity. Let us be our brother’s keeper.
There is something I believe everyone needs to know. As for me I know that I don’t know what I needed to know and if I must answer what do I know, I need to learn. Tell me, I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn. A good friend of mine once told, that if I should leave her she has alternative (just a friend). Leaving her is not the issue in contention but the hope that she foresee if I should leave her. I have no spur to prick the sides of my intention, but only vaulting ambition which overleaps itself and falls on the other. My best job goes to the person who can get it done without passing the buck or coming back with excuses. It should be noted that I said Friendship has a magnetic property. It popularizes a society into two groups. The strivers and the dreamers. There is no limit in human desire for the sake of love. Dear friend I would even love my enemy for the sake of posterity.
Strivers achieve what dreamers believe. The Strivers are set of people that believe in the beauty of their dreams. They see hope and will do good things to be great. They are the set of people that that have eyes and have vision. They go extra mile to achieve their dreams. The future belongs to them. They are always by your side when you are in trouble. This kind of friends, diverse good plans to make the world a better place. They are great leaders, visionary and courageous. They see hope in you as a friend and always help you out in your trouble. They tell you your mistake and advice you on what to do. They do well, and their names are always written on the platter of gold. Every man ought to have patience and pity for poverty; but for laziness, a long whip might be better for them. They always help in the attainment of justice in any transaction they involved in. They develop a culture of saying the truth and on no occasion do they outshine their masters. Opportunities to them, is like haughty goddess, who waste no time with those who are unprepared.
They make treasures to work for them. Make it their slave and make its children work for them. To them the sun that shines today is the sun that shone when their father was born, and will still be shinning when their last grandchild shall pass into darkness. They believe in you and help to  bring out the best in you. It is always good to ask for advice from them. As wise thinking men, they devise ways by which a man may provide with safety for his future. Their humility before God makes them great leaders and not their eloquence before men. The Dreamers are the most pathetic people in life. They have eyes but have no vision. They live in hate, envy and cannot imagine an alternative. They thrive in conflict and make no impact in their environment. They do not learn to live upon the less they could learn. They think only of spending and give no thought to earning. Their desires are multitude but those they would live up to gratify are but few. They because of their little knowledge of understanding the laws wealth, acquire a growing of surplus, and forget so easily the future days. They do not plan certain investment or provision that may endure safety for many years but yet will be available when time arrives. They do not imagine they can be great if they work hard. Imagination to those who don’t know sets the goal picture which our automatic mechanism works on. They fail to act, not because of will, as it is so commonly believed but because of imagination. Their world is full of emptiness as they criticize blindly. Emptiness is a symptom that you are not living creatively. You either have no goal that is important enough to you, or you are not using your talents and efforts in striving towards an important goal.
They do not master their difficulties and at the end of the day no opportunities won. This set
of people would always wish you bad in everything you do in life. They would never see anything good in you and often times than not, they always watch out for your mistake. It should be noted that their reasoning is always wiser than their understanding. Friends, we all have one. What is there impact on our lives? I leave you all to think about it. It is better to be with the dead whom we, to gain our peace, have sent to peace, than on the torture of the mind to lie in restless ecstasy. Great minds have purpose others have wishes.
